Everything was wrong!

Yesterday morning I got up at 7:30am and went to catch the train. I knew there weren’t trains this weekend, so I went to the station a little bit earlier than usual. When I got there, the bus was waiting there. It was a slow bus which stopped every station. Finally when I got to Sydnam station, it was 8:20am. Checking the train timetable to Edgecliff, I still got 10 minutes to buy the ticket from city to Edgecliff. The staff at the ticket office was an Indian 阿三. I was holding my weekly train ticket while I said to him, “I want a ticket from Kingscross (the last station in the city) to Edgecliff”. The computer screen showed it was $5.20 for return. I hesitated for a while because normally I bought the same ticket with $3.60. However, I bought one single ticket instead. He asked me“Are you sure?” I said yes. After walking away from the window, I suddenly found the ticket was wrong. It wrote “from Kingsgrove to Edgcliff”. Then I went back to the ticket office. I said to 阿三“Sorry, Sir, I want a ticket from Kingscross, not Kingsgrove. Can you change the ticket for me?” He said steadily “No, I can’t” I asked “Why? I didn’t even use this ticket.” He said, “I can’t. You know what? I’ll return the money to you; you can buy the ticket from the machine.” I explained, “I can’t buy the ticket from the machine, it sells the ticket from Sydnam.” It seemed I had no way to get the ticket. The lady behind me said to 阿三, “Are you by yourself? Is there anybody else who she can talk to?” 阿三said, “Only me.” He then began to ignore me and said to the lady, “Ma’am, how can I help you?” The lady was really kind. She said to him immediately, “I want you to solve the problem with this lady first.” The situation became a little awkward. I repeated to 阿三, “Sir, I have this weekly ticket from Revesby to the city” I showed him the ticket in my hand, “and I want a return ticket from Kingscross to Edgcliff”. 阿三suddenly realized something he did wrong and said to me, “Why didn’t you show me this ticket before?” I said, “I was holding the ticket all the time, and you didn’t ask me to show you!” He then sold me the return ticket of what I want and it was the correct price: $3.60.

Later on the train, I couldn’t help thinking why 阿三 did this to me. He thought I didn’t buy the ticket from my suburb to Kingsgrove and wanted to escape the ticket of this section. However, he should have asked me to show him my ticket before he was cranky to me. On the other hand, I was hurt because he regarded me as other dishonest people who escape the ticket. I bet 阿三 must have met many dishonest people. What a world!

After a few hours’ hard working, I set off from Edgcliff at 3:30pm for Revesby. I got the station at 3:40pm. When I was going to check my SMS at the platform, I realized I left the mobile at the kitchen. But I’ve used my ticket to get in the platform already. I walked back and said the officer, “Excuse me, Sir, after I entered to the platform I suddenly realized I forgot my mobile. Now I have to go back to get it. But I’ve already used this ticket. Can you let me in later?” This officer was much nicer and even joking with me, “Oh, my god, what if I want to use my mobile to call you... Yeah, that’s fine.” I ran back and get my mobile and wanted to catch 3:47pm’s train. Just at the moment I got back to the platform, the train was there. I jumped on and the doors closed. Two minutes later, I calmed down and the platform sign was writing “Bondi Junction station”. Oh, dear, what a day! Everything was wrong! I got on the wrong train which goes the opposite direction!

Making Dupmling

I have been loving dumpling since I was a little girl for some reason. I can still remember the scene everybody making dumpling at my home when I was seven. It was winter, my grandparents and cousins with with their parents came to my home for holidays. It was winter, my grandparents and cousins with their parents came to my home for holidays. We got all materials for dumpling like bok choi, turnip, carrot, torfu, black mushroom, ginger, garlic, pork and plain flour. We opened the TV and started to make dumpling. Everyone got the job. My mum was mincing the meat while my dad was mincing the vegetables for the content. My uncles was rolling the wrappers after aunts mixed the dough. Others including my cousins were sitting around the kitchen table to fold the dough with palatable contents into beautiful, delicate dumplings. It was one of the most interesting things in my life. We were watching TV, chatting, laughing, wrapping and one hour and half passed the dumplings were all ready to boil. I was so exciting at that moment and as a result, I ate forty dumplings (note: relatively big ones) totally.

Since then, everybody in our big family knew that I was a big fun of dumpling. My parents usually made dumpling for me. My aunt also cooked dumplings when I was visiting her. But I could never feel so exciting any more. The reason could be explained as: everyone was busy and no dumplings were made from scratch again. With modern civilization, the dumpling wrappers can be made by machine and easily bought at shops even including ready made instant ones. The contents are no longer with variety in one kind of dumpling. Instead, different flavors occur like cabbage dumpling, chicken dumpling, beef dumpling, mutton dumpling, etc.

Now dumpling is not my favourite food. I can only eat twenty dumplings every time. I sometimes try to recall me of my good memories by making dumpling by myself. It is less fun actually. Can people do the same sweet thing twice in their whole lives?

Looking forward to New Year's Eve Fireworks in Darling Harbour

Today is the last day of 2007. I've seen "Friends" and so I know it is a big day for people here just like chinese people's celebration on Lunar new year's eve. People tend to invite friends, lovers or family members to spend the last moment of the year.

I heard that there are wonderful New Year's Eve Fireworks in Darling Harbour every year. I have ever seen fireworks at riverside in Wuhan and at Victoria Harbour in Hongkong, but never seen it here. It is one of the most beautiful fireworks shows in the world. It must be crowded tonight. I'm so looking forward to experiencing this festival with my friends. I will also make wishes over there. Who knows if wishes made there would come true? If would, I wish everyone bring good mood into the new year and make the world more beautiful. What's more? It's a secret. It's about myself. Ha! Happy new year, everybody!

How can we find our teachers?

Today is the last day for this term. We had theory test in the morning. Our theory teacher Leonie told us to get our test result and feedback around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Since Helen and I went to the gym club and we returned to school at 3pm, we failed to see our teacher there. We tried to find her and Alanna as well, but we couldn't. We asked receptionists at first, they told us to get our feedback at vocational office. Then, we went to the vocational office, the staff there rudely asked us to contact teachers themselves. We went back to the receptionists again. They said if vocational office teacher told you this, then you need follow his instruction. But I wonder how we can find our teachers? We don't even know their telephone numbers. Besides, is it not school responsibilities to give us feedback and only if chase our teachers could we have the paper? I heard that teachers in our school are usually hired as their part time jobs and our school's management is very poor. Now I've got a little clue.

Why do I always keep sleeping at midnight?

I had a very bad habit. I always sleep very late even I don’t have anything to do. I like to sit there and do nothing till midnight. Sometimes, I watch movies. Sometimes, I just sit there. For girls, early sleep can keep them beautiful. For boys, early sleep can maintain their energy. Also, people say early bird catches the worm. If I don’t sleep early, how can I get up early? For my health sake, I hope I could get rid of this bad habit soon.

I check my group messages on QQ every night. I joined totally 20 QQ groups. Some groups I don’t even know how I joined. I read Jing’s message in Crab’s Club. It seemed she had been studying Ielts since a few days ago. She met a girl on internet who was going to sit Ielts exam in 9 days. They practice English speaking every night. Obviously, I need write something for practice too. So I opened the computer again to write my diary after I finished all the things I need do tonight.

We had a test today. Alana was very nice. She provided us most of questions we might answer during the test before it started. She made the test much easier for us. I think she knew what we need and what we think. I like her. There will be another two tests tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. These are the last two tests for stage one. We are going to have six weeks’ holiday after those tests. It’s an exciting thing.
I finished my assignment this afternoon. This was the first time I finished my assignment two days prior to the due day. For celebration, I opened the TV tonight to watch two updated TV series: Princess Sister and Desperate Housewives.

Anyway, I had a very happy day today. I had finished all the things I had to do. Now it's midnight again. So it’s time to be bed. I just hope I can sleep a little bit earlier tomorrow than today. Little by little, I will change the habit!

Step Up

I saw a movie today. The name was Step Up. It described how a dancing student completed her masterpiece during the graduation show. It gave me deep impression because it recalled me of how interesting the dancing is for me.

Nora was a student in an elegant art school. She was about to graduate. She loved dancing since she was a little girl. She preferred to continue her dancing career, but her mother hoped her to enter the university. She was going to present her masterpiece in a performance for graduation. Many important people from art field would join. At the critical rehearsal time, her dance partner broke his leg and couldn’t dance with her…

Tyler was born in a poor Caucasian family. He had two good black friends Mac and his little brother Skinny. They always hung out in PJ’s club and then stole cars on the street. Tyler liked Hip-hop. One day, they were playing basketball on the street and broke the window of the art school and they went in and smashed a lot of art pieces. Unfortunately, Tyler was caught. He got 200 hours work for the school in order to pay the art pieces. When he was doing cleaning in the school, he ran into Nora and became her dance partner.

During the rehearsal, Tyler gave some moves to Nora and Nora taught some ballet to Tyler. With inspiration, Nora expanded her range of ballet and changed her piece which was combined with ballet and hip-hop. The show had finally got great success and these two persons fell in love in the end.

The most exciting part was their dance with great step music. I think the name of the movie has shown the deep meaning of the movie. Dance could be a kind of lifestyle. Step up is a positive life. I love it. I might join some dancing club in Sydney to make my life more colorful and wonderful.stepup1stepup2.jpgstepup2

Habit

The life in Australia is a little bit boring.
I never drank coffee in China, but I drink here!
I seldom drank wine in China, but I want to drink here!
I never thought of raising pets in China, but I think of it here!
I seldom wrote in China, but I write a lot here!

Tonight, I went out for dinner with my Korean and Japanese classmates. Another classmate Tum from Thailand was supposed to be with us. It turned out only three of us were having dinner together, two girls and one boy. We ate in a Korean restaurant near Park's apartment. Park and Kumiko are both good drinkers. With more and more drinking, they talked more and more. Park loves drinking and smoking. He described us of what he feels when he smokes after every meal. I feel what he feels like I am the smoker. No, I'm not. The only reason I can feel is that I understand the power of a habit. Raising a habit is easy, but quitting a habit is difficult. Park used to quit smoking for a while and with failure in the end.

Why do we need habits? I've been thinking of it recently. The answer is a boring life needs to be filled in with them. Men choose drinking, smoking, playing computer games, playing soccer as their habits while women choose shopping, reading, chatting and eating. I'm a little chocolate addictive. Since half a year ago, I've become a real couch potato. I loved to sit in front of computer to watch movies and eat sweet food till going to bed at night. I was hoping to quit this habit but I failed. Even now, I love to eat chocolate very much. I just made a little change: no eating before sleeping. In order to replace old bad habit, I began to write diary few days ago. It will soon become a new good habit in one week. With developing this, I owned the other bad habit. I sleep very late in order to finish my article. Gee, it's too complicated. I'm going to write a list for all good habits tomorrow. Ten good habits will be raised soon!
